Cycle Recycle Project

The project

Intensive support is available to people within the drug and alcohol treatment system to make progress towards more stable lifestyles and abstinence.  However, there is now a gap in terms of the level of support and constructive activity available to those who leave treatment.  This creates a disincentive to progressing through and out of the treatment process.

It is therefore believed that if projects could be developed to enable those making progress in treatment to look forward to a supported, activity-filled life, integrated with the broader life of the community, this would facilitate treatment effectiveness and throughput.

KCA have created a Cycle Recycle project in which service users will refurbish and repair discarded bicyles and then rent and/or sell them.  We are looking for a volunteer to mentor service users - someone with an interest in bicycles and people and who wants to make a contribution to the community.

We are currently seeking funding for a salaried post.
