KCA has been providing services in the community for the last 30 years, and over this time has built up considerable competence and expertise. 

KCA provides

  • Community drug and alcohol services for adults

  • Psychological Therapy services (based in GP surgeries)
  • Training, Consultancy and Workforce Development services

KCA has a history of providing innovative services tailored to meet the needs of the community, including

  • Working with Substance Misusing Parents and their Children
  • Targeting young people who are vulnerable to substance misuse before problems develop
  • Addressing the wider needs of the individual by providing advice on housing, education, training and employment
  • Developing enhanced arrest referral services to ensure that those committing drug-related crime are identified early and guided into treatment through the Drug Intervention Programme
  • Providing enhanced early intervention to substance misusers at risk of thrombolysis and liver disease
  • Action research to improve the evidence base for the sector
  • Mainstreaming service user involvement in recruitment, policy development and service quality assurance
  • Developing specialist prescribing services outside the framework of the NHS
