Continuing professional development
KCA has created an in-house curriculum of training packages which have been accredited by the National Open College Network (NOCN) to Level 3 (equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or 'A' Level) and in November 2010, we launched our first diploma level cognitive behavioural therapy course.
We are committed to ensuring that our staff reach their full potential and, where possible, we will fund or part fund staff to undertake graduate and post-graduate work.
Our internal training is based around two national standards:
- the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards, and
- British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies accreditation.
Staff starting with KCA take our Induction Training package within their first six months of employment. The package comprises
- Introduction to KCA and the Sector
- Working with Diversity (NOCN accredited)
- Working with Abusive and Aggressive Behaviour (NOCN accredited)
- Drug and Alcohol Awareness (NOCN accredited)
In addition, practitioners take Substance Misuse Assessment (NOCN accredited) Care Planning and Record Keeping (NOCN accredited)
You can find full details of the courses available to our staff on the Training and Support pages.
