KCA's Kent Drug Intervention Programme is for substance misusers (in Kent or returning to Kent from prison elsewhere) who are involved at any point in the Criminal Justice system to enable them to make the lifestyle changes needed to move out of crime and into treatment.
The aim of the team is to reduce repeat offending and the numbers of persistent and prolific offenders by tackling their substance misuse and managing their social welfare needs in order to contribute to safer and healthier communities.
The DIP team offers one to one case management and needs assessment and, in addition to advice and support in managing substance misuse, the team can offer advice and support on issues such as
- training
- employment
- housing
- healthcare, including help in accessing dentists and doctors
Where we work
The team can provide support at all stages of client involvement with the Criminal Justice system across Kent.
The Arrest Referral team works within Police Stations in Kent to identify and offer treatment to those for whom substance misuse is at the root of any criminal activity.
In Court, our Court Workers are available to provide advice on treatment options.
Our dedicated prison aftercare service, helps to ease the transition for clients from prison to the community, ensuring that community based support is in place from the moment the client leaves prison, reducing the possibility of a return to crime.
