FAQs about KCA

These are the most frequently asked questions about KCA.

FAQs about specific services can be found on our 'For Service Users' pages.

A list of KCA service centres, and the services available at each is on our 'Where we are' page.

What does KCA stand for?

KCA began life as 'The Kent Council on Alcohol' but the widening scope of our work required a change of name.  As KCA (UK) we provide substance misuse services for adults and young people, counselling for mild to moderate mental health problems for adults, consultancy for employers and employees on substance misuse and a range of training packages for professionals who may come into contact with substance misusers as part of their job.

What training is available at KCA?

For employees, volunteers and service user representatives, KCA provides a range of OCN accredited in-house training. This training is available to professionals who work with substance misusers through our Training and Workforce Development Team, who can also create a tailored training package.

How can I make a referral?

You can make a referral by telephoning your nearest KCA centre, by attending a drop in session, or by emailing or writing to us.

What services are available at each service centre?

The type of service available depends on local commissioning decisions.  Where we can't provide the service needed, we'll do our best to make an appropriate onward referral.
