How KCA is Governed and Managed

KCA 's work is overseen by a Board of Trustees which is responsible for ensuring that KCA directs its energies and resources to providing services that will help achieve its purpose.  The Board is also responsible for approving policy, strategy and compliance with statute.

The Chief Executive is accountable to the Board of Trustees and all paid staff are responsible, via their  line management, to the Chief Executive.

The Chief Executive is supported by the Senior Management Team, which directs and ensures delivery of strategy and policy.  The Senior Management Team comprises the directors of the organisation.

KCA's head office is in Faversham, Kent and co-ordinates the over-arching administration of the organisation.  Service clusters are managed by an Assistant Director supported by locality management.

Elisabeth Hirlemann
became Chair of the Board of Trustees for KCA (UK) in 2009. Elisabeth brings very sound business credentials to the organisation through her experience of operating at senior management level in European companies.

Elisabeth has a first class honours degree in German and IT and qualified as Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1990. Her nine years in practice with Reeves gave her business development, audit, accounting and tax experience in the UK and Germany. She joined Alamo Rent-a-Car in 1996 leading European internal audit.

In 1997 Elisabeth was asked to join the Holiday Extras Board as Group Finance Director, later becoming Chief Operations Officer with responsibility for Group Finance, HR, IT and Parking Operations. She directed the set up of the group's operations in Germany, led a management buy-out and the acquisition of the group's major competitor. At the time of Elisabeth's retirement in 2008 the group's turnover was £200 million.

Elisabeth continues to perform a pivotal role in driving KCA towards even greater performance as a provider of recovery and mental health services.
