Harm Reduction

Worker handing over NX packHarm reduction services aim to reduce the harms caused by drug use by providing advice and information that will enable substance misusers, particularly injecting drug users, to make informed choices about their drug use while also reducing the transmission of blood borne viruses.

Harm reduction services are offered on a one to one basis and we'll treat any information you give us as confidential.

Harm Reduction services include

  • Needle and syringe exchanges at service centres and at pharmacy exchanges
  • Overdose prevention training for individuals and groups
  • Confidential testing services for Hepatitis B and C, and for HIV and AIDS
  • Individual appointments for the provision of advice and information about drugs and drug use, particularly injecting drug use
  • Referrals for specialist consultation for Hep B and C, and for HIV and AIDS
  • Informal and confidential assessments for drug use
  • Health Checks
