Health Checks

A range of health checks are available to KCA clients.  Some are provided by our Harm Reduction team, some by members of the Clinical or Prescribing Team

Blood Pressure (BP)

Blood pressure tests measure the rate at which blood moves around your body.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

This is a calculation that provides a (very) rough guide to the best weight for your height.

Respiratory Peak Flow (RPF)

This measures how well your lungs are functioning

Electro Cardiogram (ECG)

This test measures electrical activity in your heart to see if it is working properly

Doppler Ultrasound

This is a type of scan.  It's used to measure the speed of blood flow and any changes in blood thickness.

Hepatitis Vaccination

KCA can also provide clients with a fast-track vaccination course against Hepatitis A and B.  A full course, of three injections, takes four weeks.

We can also give you advice about diet and exercise that can help you get and stay healthy and, if you're a Day Programme client, you may have the opportunity to learn how to shop for and cook a healthy, nutricious lunch.
