Placements offer third level and post graduate students the opportunity to increase their knowledge, practice new skills in a safe environment, test career plants and to make contacts with agencies and professionals within their chosen field.

to students who are working towards a relevant professional qualification.
We can also offer placement and volunteering opportunities for:

Doctoral students in their second or third year of clinical psychology or psychological counselling courses who wish to boost their evidence based experience through ethics committee approved research.

Graduates and undergraduates wishing to experience working in an organisation delivering psychological therapies.

BACP accredited graduates or those who have completed at least one year of an accredited course can volunteer as counsellors.
Applicants for our placement programme must be committed to their placement, willing to work with our clients and be motivated to extend their learning. have a current, enhanced, CRB check and a Hepatitis B certificate or opt-out confirmation (if requesting a placement within our substance misuse service).
For counselling psychology placements we normally accept people only during the second and third year of their doctorates unless they already have had at least eighty hours of CBT training and at least one hundred hours of cognitive behavioural therapy practice.
Learning outcomes will be agreed with the Mentor Assessors at the beginning of the placement.
