There is also a lot of help available on the internet and many of these are listed on our Links page.    You can also click on the 'How are you feeling' tab for some more information.

Practical Issues

"My counsellor was very friendly, put me at ease straight away.  The mood questionnaire was very helpful and after 4 sessions it had improved.  I only needed 4 sessions as it made me realise a few things about my life, which I have since changed."

A course of counselling lasts for a maximum of seven sessions.

Your first session will last 30 minutes and this will be an opportunity for you and the therapist to decide if short term therapy is right for you.   The counselling sessions from then on will usually last 50 minutes and you will normally see the same counsellor each time.

Referrals to the service usually come from your GP or one of the other health professionals at your surgery.

Quality Assurance

Quality in KCA's Psychological Therapy service is measured using three tools:  an in-house database, the CORE monitoring tool and a client satisfaction questionnaire.
