Quality in the Workforce and in Staff Development

KCA uses four mechanisms to ensure that our staff are supported and enabled to carry out their responsibilities in a challenging and demanding sector.  These are

  • Line Management
  • Supervision
  • Medical Supervision
  • Functional Specialist Groups

New staff undertake a comprehensive induction programme during which roles and responsibilities, action plans and activity levels/contract expectations are clarified.  The induction programme is backed by an induction training curriculum, modules of which are accredited by the National Open College Network.

Throughout the year, staff have regular line management sessions with their manager.  Practitioners, in addition to line management, attend a mixture of group and one-to-one clinical supervision sessions.

This performance monitoring process ensures that staff are achieving or working towards targets within a supportive framework.

Staff are also supported to undertake professional development and, each year, around twenty staff will begin courses ranging from diploma to post-graduate level.
