Recruitment, Selection and Placement
The selection process for Volunteers will depend on the volunteer role being taken.
Auxiliary Support Workers
Auxiliary Support Workers are interviewed by the service or deputy service manager for whom they will be working. If the volunteer and the service manager are in agreement, we will apply for a CRB check for the volunteer, carry out a risk assessment and ensure that the volunteer is covered by our insurance policies while they are working with us.
Level One Volunteers
The selection process for Level One volunteers takes place at the service centre where the volunteer wants to work. The process involves an interview and a training event to assess suitability carried out by the locality manager. If these are successfully negotiated, we will take up references and apply for a CRB check.
Level Two and Level Three volunteers
The selection process for Level Two and Level Three volunteers is similar to that of a Level One volunteer - but we add a two day in-house training course at the end of which the volunteer is assessed. The assessors for Level Two and Level Three volunteers will include service managers and senior staff from across our services.
Successful volunteers for all Auxiliary, and Levels One, Two and Three roles will receive confirmation in writing and be asked to complete a Volunteer Agreement which outlines their commitment to KCA's policies procedures and principles
Trustees
Volunteers for Trustee roles will be assessed initially by the Chair of the Board of Trustees and KCA's Chief Executive at an informal interview. If successful, they will be asked to provide a curriculum vitae outlining their relevant experience and this will be circulated to the Board of Trustees. The volunteer Trustee will be invited to attend one of the Board or Sub-Committee meetings before the Board, as a whole, votes on their candidacy. If successful, their names will be submitted to the Charity Commissioners and to Companies House and they will be invited to join one of Sub-Committees.
