Volunteering
KCA believes that volunteers, including individuals who have experience of using our services, are a major resource and can make a vital contribution in complementing the roles of paid staff.
Our experience has shown that volunteers bring benefits to those with whom they work and our intention is that they should gain from their involvement with KCA in terms of their own personal development.
There are several ways in which volunteers contribute to our work - in administration, in meeting and greeting service users and in working within departments such as the Horizon Project, Prescribing Services and Psychological Therapies.
We are always keen to enroll people who want to apply their practical skills and work experiences to help maintain and support KCA's buildings and offices. Auxiliary Support Workers don't have direct involvement with service users, instead they will work on a range of tasks and projects directed by local managers.
Volunteers who volunteer with service users will need to have a Criminal Records Bureau check - our enrolment team will help you with that - because they will be working closely with vulnerable people. A CRB check that comes back positive is not the end of the world - and isn't a bar to being a KCA volunteer.
If you want to volunteer as a counsellor, you must have a recognised therapist diploma. You will also need to undertake specialist in-house training - we run courses two or three times a year - and must adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics. Ideally you will also be registered to a recognised professional body i.e. BACP.
For more details about volunteering within KCA and the roles available please visit Volunteer Roles with KCA.
From time to time we also look for people to volunteer with us that have specialist skills, experience or interests.
We are currently seeking volunteers for our new wood recycling project known as Rootes Recycling. If you are a hands on person who loves the outdoors and has some spare time to volunteer please get in touch with Lee Corrigan, Rootes Recycling Lead on 07850 515243 for more details.
We also have a need for Clinical Support Volunteers within our Psychology Department. Please email PsychologyVolunteering@kca.org.uk for more details.
