Working in Day Programmes
Posts and Roles
There are seven different kinds of post within Day Programmes, each with a different level of responsibility. These are
- Day Programme Volunteer
- Day Programme Trainee Worker
- Day Programme Worker
- Senior Day Programme Worker
- Day Programme Coordinator
- Deputy Service Manager
- Service Manager
What do Day Programme Workers do?
The work of the Day Programme is centred around group activities. Day programme workers plan and prepare the activities and support service users through them.
These activities range from groups on Harm Reduction and on Understanding Addiction to managing and planning an allotment to provide fresh food for lunch, to music and art therapy to literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
Because of the range of activities provided in our Day Programmes, a formal qualification in substance misuse, while desireable, is not necessary - a proven skill or a qualification relevant to one of our activities, along with good engagement skills, would be just as welcome.
