Working in Psychological Therapies

Posts and Roles

The work of the Psychological Therapies Provider (PTP) Service is strongly evidence-based, hence we have a service that is underpinned by a strong administration and quality assurance structure.  This is reflected in the roles available within the Team

  • Office Assistants
  • Evaluation Assistants
  • Therapists
  • Senior Practitioner
  • Service Co-ordinator
  • Service Manager

KCA's Psychological Therapists are qualified to at least diploma level in Counselling or Psychotherapy and have or are working towards accreditation with the BACP (British Association of Counselling Practitioners).

All Therapists receive regular, monthly line management and clinical supervision and attend peer meetings.  They also have access to KCA's internal training programmes, including CBT and Motivational Interviewing modules, as well as funding for external professional development.

What do Psycholgical Therapists do?

In working with KCA's clients, our Therapists use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).  However, our Therapists come from a wide variety of theoretical backgrounds and the flexibility of working part-time allows many to maintain a private practice in which to use theoretical models more suitable to long-term interventions.

Senior Practitioners combine line management responsibilities with therapeutic work, allowing them to continue their practice.

What does the PTP Admin and Evaluation Team do?

The Admin and Evaluation team provide support to the Therapeutic team in collecting and collating statistics, from which they compile reports for commissioners and GPs.  They also provide general administration within our offices, dealing with enquires, correspondence and referrals.   Our team is highly numerate and literate and have an exacting attention to detail.  Flexible enough to provide cookies on slow days, they are ready to leap into action when deadlines loom.
